The Wanzl Hotel Service division has successfully made a name for itself in the international hotel and gastronomy sector. At INTERNORGA 2010, Wanzl is presenting its innovative and high-quality product ranges in the areas of House Keeping, Front Office, Food+Beverage, Storage+Shelving Systems as well as Guidance Systems. These functional, cost-effective and user-friendly products minimise personnel requirements, ensure effective work processes and at the same time fulfil the great demands and expectations of guests.
Room service personnel works behind the scenes, invisible to guests. Nevertheless, these employees and their equipment considerably contribute to guests' well-being in the hotel. Wanzl has now further supplemented its extensive range of chambermaid trolleys with the electrically driven ‘ZP-Drive’ model, presented at INTERNORGA 2010 for the first time. In the new ‘ZP-Drive’ model, Wanzl fitted a maintenance- and wear-free electric motor into the hub of the fifth wheel castor, which is located underneath the centre of the trolley, to drive and transport large chambermaid trolleys. This patented Wanzl development guarantees excellent manoeuvrability and optimum track precision and steerability, even when it is full. The electric motor is operated easily via a rocker switch integrated ergonomically into the handle. Control of forwards or backwards movement at several speeds is achieved at the simple push of a button. The battery required to drive the trolley can be easily replaced using a coupling mechanism to guarantee it is ready for operation around the clock. This enables hotel personnel to effortlessly manoeuvre large chambermaid trolleys with considerable storage space for house keeping equipment through large hotel complexes with a high bed capacity without straining their backs or health in general.
Wanzl is also presenting the next generation of the ‘hotel-max’ Cartless System at INTERNORGA 2010 as an alternative to previously known chambermaid trolleys. Innovations include new basket versions and ergonomic modifications to the handle. An elegant service trolley with a large wire mesh for the custom-fit mounting of a compact, stable and simultaneously light service basket serves as the basis for the ‘hotel-max’. “The hotel staff can easily pull the ‘hotel-max’ with one hand directly into the hotel rooms, even in the case of an infrastructure with increased demands such as narrow corridors.” While the house keeping staff are busy, the corridors remain free of troublesome trolleys and are available exclusively for the guests. The new ‘hotel-max’ Cartless System is ideal for well-organised house keeping in the sophisticated hotel sector, design and lifestyle hotels and for holiday resorts. The Wanzl Hotel Service division has successfully made a name for itself in the international hotel and gastronomy sector. Now, Wanzl has received an industry award for its excellent innovative skills: the renowned hotel and gastronomy trade magazine ‘Top hotel’ honoured Wanzl's ‘hotel-max’ with the ‘TOP HOTEL STAR AWARD’ in gold in the ‘Design’ category. The award ceremony took place in November at the ‘GÄSTE 2009’ trade fair in Leipzig and recognised outstanding performance in the hotel supply industry. This year 96 companies submitted their products for a nomination in the six categories – Design, Innovation, Concept, Sustainability, Technology and Efficiency. Just three products in each category reached the final and were presented in the September issue of ‘Top hotel’. The readers then chose their favourites for the gold, silver and bronze awards.

Manager of the Wanzl Hotel Service division, Martin Brink, on the advantages of the new system: “The hotel staff can easily pull the loaded basket with one hand directly into the hotel rooms, even in the case of an infrastructure with increased demands such as narrow corridors.”Wanzl developed the new trolley model specifically for sophisticated gastronomy as well as for design and lifestyle hotels. In spring, the exclusive ‘Hapimag Sylt’ holiday resort already became one of the first customers of the new product. Another new customer for the Wanzl Hotel Service division is the luxury hotel Schloss Velden on Lake Wörthersee, which was privately owned by Gunter Sachs in the 1990s and then used as the setting for the TV series ‘A Castle by Lake Wörthersee’ (‘Ein Schloss am Wörthersee’). The ocean carrier AIDA Cruises and Radisson Blu, one of the world's fastest growing hotel chains in the premium sector, have also become hotel customers of Wanzl. The Managing Director Gottfried Wanzl is satisfied: “The Hotel Service division is strengthening Wanzl's position as a global player as well as ensuring highly skilled jobs in Swabia at the same time.” | |

You don't have a second chance for the first impression: unfortunately, almost every second guest is unhappy with hotel rooms according to a report in the September issue of the Stiftung Warentest magazine, which is based on a survey by the hotel booking portal HRS. The most common complaints among German hotel guests are due to insufficient room cleaning: 57 percent of the participants were unhappy with the cleanliness of the rooms, and 43 percent complained about insufficient hygiene in the bathroom. However, spotless rooms are one of the calling cards for upmarket hotels. There is currently a reversal in housekeeping trends to guarantee this high quality standard: hotels in the superior class consider increasing in-house housekeeping staff and chambermaids to be an ideal and often complementary alternative to external companies that provide staff. An in-house team gives hotel management the possibility to directly influence quality assurance and to intervene much faster.

The practical willow-look ?plastic basket features two internal compartments and a small-items box to ?help keep the load sorted. The basket is also food-safe, washable, heat-resistant to 70°C and UV stable. At the upper end of the hotel business, staff and interior, choice and ambience must form a unified whole: for room service, this means offering culinary pleasure at the highest level – with perfect dishes and the necessary equipment such as the sturdy >>RSVC-Comfort<< room service table from Wanzl: this model moves easily and nimbly from the kitchen to the room or suite on four quiet and sturdy swivel castors made from plastic. Both side elements can be folded down for transporting and are held in this position for a smooth journey. The room service table from Wanzl is therefore narrow enough to cope with the spatial conditions in hotel rooms and hallways. The >>RSVC-Comfort<< shows its true size when it is set up in the room: the perfectly sized oval table offers enough space for two people to dine in comfort. Cruises are successfully gathering way on the popularity scale of holiday makers. Thanks to the wide range of offerings, sea voyages have become affordable. In March 2009, Wanzl's Hotel Service business area will set sail from Hamburg on its maiden voyage. At 252 metres long, 32.2 metres wide and 1,250 cabins, the AIDAluna is the sixth ship in the AIDA Cruises fleet. The company specialises as both an ocean carrier and tour operator for active and casual cruises with a wide range of sporting, wellness, spa and entertainment activities. In this kind of ambience, the service provided by the housekeeping personnel and the products they use behind the scenes and out of sight of the guests must also be perfect: the Wanzl is supplying AIDA Cruises with high-quality products for housekeeping and and front office as well as for internal transport on the cruise ship. Wanzl products reduce personnel costs, guarantee optimum work processes on board the club ship and at the same time meet the high requirements and expectations of guests.
Wanzl is supplying 61 ZP-9 chambermaid trolleys for housekeeping in the run-up to the maiden voyage. Wanzl is equipping the special edition in alder effect with a number of extras like, for example, hinged and extendable shelf for glass racks, a top box and further additional small items boxes. The 5th castor mounted centrally under the trolley allows the trolley to be turned on the spot and easily and nimbly moved and controlled. These features, coupled with a depth of only 55 centimetres, make this model the ideal chambermaid trolley; it saves space in cabins and corridors and at the same time still allows passengers to pass. In a test deployment on the sister ship AIDAbella, the housekeeping personnel gave the Wanzl trolleys top marks. Wanzl is supplying over 120 space-saving folding handcarts developed specifically for the AIDAluna for presorting of laundry. For larger laundry volumes and economy of space, the personnel will also be using Wanzl's SW 240 handcart with a volume of 240 litres. Ten Wanzl T26 transport trolleys will be used for the functional transport of food and non-food stock items.
Twenty-eight Wanzl luggage collection trolleys comprising the Group model and the folding version Compact 800 R with hinged platform for convenient loading ensure smooth transport of the luggage of individual and group travellers.Both trolleys help to make a good first impression and ensure that everything that belongs together, stays together: the generous case rack as well as the coat rail of the >>Group<< version offer lots of space for the luggage of individual and group travellers. And last but not least: After check-in the world of AIDAluna awaits guests with a Theatrium, wellness and spa area in Indian style, cinema under starry sky, seven restaurants and eleven bars. Over 60 pieces from the flexible Wanzl guidance systems Part-Line 2000 and Part-Flex 2000, printed on both sides with the AIDA logo, will help the passengers to find their bearings on board.

| Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik presented its new Hotel Service division for the first time at INTER-NORGA in Hamburg.
Wanzl chose this setting, the largest European fair for the hotel and catering trade, to unveil its innovative product range divided into the areas of House Keeping, Front Office, Food + Beverage and Storage + Shelving Systems. The products from Wanzl reduce personnel costs, guarantee optimum work processes in the hotel and catering trade and at the same time meet the high requirements and expectations of the guests.
House Keeping
For the area of house keeping, Wanzl offers functional chambermaid trolleys: the "Premium Classic" and "Eco" models help the room service personnel to provide a perfect service and make an important contribution to a comfortable stay for the guests. Both trolley versions are equipped with a central 5th castor and can be easily and nimbly moved and controlled. They also feature a bumper all around to protect the high-quality fittings in their surroundings. The House Keeping range also includes the clothes stand "Slim", which can be nested to save space. A large selection of handcarts, transport trolleys and case stands rounds out the offering.
Front Office
For the guests, excellent service begins when they check in at hotel reception. Food + Beverage
The team and the interior, range and ambience must form one homogenous unit in restaurants, cafés and bars too: Wanzl offers easy-clean equipment with high functionality and developed for the specific requirements in the catering end of the hotel sector for the F&B area. Thus the mobile plate trolley "TW-Solo" guarantees fast serving and distribution of meals, even with large numbers of guests. The robust and dimensionally-stable plate trolley models "Poly" and "Classic" help with hygienic handling and quick transport of crockery. The minibar filling trolley "MB-Smart" with a clearly structured division for bottles and small items guarantees perfect room service. A further advantage of the "MB-Smart" is the space-saving rolling front that can be locked if required. This model features a central 5th castor for ease of steering. The room service table "RST-Comfort" completes the perfect service to the hotel room: the model is ideally dimensioned and stable, has folding sides for narrow passages and is available with a hot box for hot meals on request. On 1 August 2007, insolvency proceedings were launched on the remaining assets of Siegel GmbH & Co. KG, and auditor Arndt Geiwitz from the law firm SKP Schneider & Geiwitz (Neu-Ulm) was appointed as liquidator. SieWa Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, a subsidiary of Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, took over the Jettingen operation of Siegel GmbH & Co. KG with effect from 20 August 2007. The foreign companies owned by Siegel in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria were not acquired. Wanzl also maintains subsidiaries in these countries. A total of 160 of the approx. 200 active employees at the headquarters in Jettingen were kept on, comprising mainly industrial employees and some of the salaried staff. The former Siegel workforce will be integrated promptly into the workforce at Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GmbH. Having Wanzl as an investor facilitated a satisfactory balancing of interests with the creditors, while largely avoiding hardship for the workforce, as well as continuity on the market. | |
